Dansalona 2011 in Barcelona

Inaugurated not long ago, Dansalona has become one of the main international dance events in Barcelona Spain. This great cultural event will exhibit the best of the corporal movements accompanied by music and art as an expression of effort to share experiences in the universal language of dance.

The second edition of Dansalona has as its main objective to consolidate the festival as an artistic reference event in Europe, as well as attracting tourism that’s interested in international culture.

Referenced by the excellent results obtained in the first edition, this year the festival includes a wide range of presentations that will take over the theatres and various public spaces in the city. Dansalona is so popular tthat it will even be an integral part of traditional festivals such as the Gràcia Festival and the Sants Festival, which will take place in August.

This year, the festival has the fortune of having the backing of the Theatre Companies Association of Catalunya, ADETCA, who will perform the organisation of the events in the public spaces and theatres. The places that will become venues will be, among others, the Mercat de les Flors, Poble Espanyol and, of course, the Gran Teatre del Liceu.

With a series of works of renown artists both local and international, Dansalona offers a wide range of shows that include explorative works of cultural identity and lifestyles of today which are of global reach and that encompass classic and contemporary dance.

This festival is definitely one of the best activities this summer in the Catalan capital. So if you’re a fan or a professional of dance, you’ll enjoy observing the most aesthetic, passionate and sensitive movements or, if you just want to get out of your routine and go to a festival that will take your breath away, Dansalona is your best option. If you want, you can also bring your family, these shows are thought for young and not-so-young so there’s no excuse to miss out on this magnificent event, unique in its type.
