Closed Society - A Very Special Club

In Barcelona and Madrid there is a curious paradox: despite their deserved reputation of being cosmopolitan and modern cities, it is not easy to find places where one feels truly free, and doesn’t have to bow to current trends or the demands of “up-standing” citizens. That is why when one finds an oasis of freedom it’s worth exploring and promoting it … Following this spirit, allow me to talk about the colourful events of the “Sociedad Cerrada” (closed society).

These encounters were born years ago in Berlin, under the name of geschlossene Gesellschaft, as a private party between friends, and have grown in popularity and attendance. In Barcelona there have already been eleven editions of Sociedad Cerrada (usually one or two each year). These parties are designed as a space for free artistic, musical and visual expression, in which guests can indulge their own fantasies in an atmosphere, which despite being crowded, is warm and welcoming.
